About me:
I am a new coming artist, born November 2002 in Douglas, Isle of Man, currently in my final year of University at Liverpool Hope. Art has always been a big part of my life, and is always something I want to do.
I try to experiment and explore a variety of medias and materials in my work, not using just one thing, as the idea of that feels too restrictive. Recycling and giving things another life and meaning is something I really enjoy to do.
The meaning on my work, doesn't often follow anything with a social or political context, but by all means can be enhanced by it. I just get the idea to create and let that take me, no rhyme, no reason... just create. So most of my artworks are made off the cuff, which I find interesting to see how my thought process works.
Artist Statement
The aim of my practice has always been to give some sort of visual stimulation to the viewer, in whatever way I feel that will convey this. Thus I do not tend to limit myself with one medium but explore all ways to create art. I have worked in the traditional 2D and 3D such as painting and sculptures, but also delved into the modern digital work. I think restricting oneself to one medium often makes my creative process claustrophobic or chained down, which is the opposite of what art truly is… a way of expressing yourself or your though process/beliefs. I am heavily inspired with the readymade artists, as well as artists that create a hidden message/context, such a the DADA artists and Chris Drury, as well as the ‘performance’ I inhabit whilst creating similarly to Jackson Pollock. The only words I can think of when describing y work is playful as I always tend to have an idea, but I let the piece be created on its own, like a journey to the final artistic vision. I believe the act of using the subconscious as a way to process my ideas, tends to create my best work.
